What About Husband And Wife In Business Together? The Internal Revenue Service considers a husband and wife in business together, and requires them to file a partnership return. If the business is considered only to be that of one of the spouses, but the other one simply works for them in the business, the activity would be properly reported on Form 1040, Schedule C for the business owner. The other spouse would generally be an employee of that spouse.
