1913 U.S. Federal Form 1040 Income Tax Return

This is the first United States Form 1040 for the tax year 1913.  Note, the entire return including instructions is only 4 pages long.

It is also interesting to note that the exemption of $3,000 is only $300 less than the personal exemption we have for the tax year 2006. ($3,000 was big money in 1913, in 1926 the average American earned $1,390, thus this tax return was not filed by the vast majority of Americans).
